August “On Tour”
Many thanks to Kelly Ortmeier ( for being our host at the Butterfly Pavilion (303-469-5441, for The Wedding Connectors On Tour August event. The Butterfly Pavilion is only a 15 minute drive from downtown Denver.

The Butterfly Pavilion

There are actually three ceremony areas: the 7,000 sq. ft. tropical rainforest conservatory; the native plant Discovery Garden; and the outdoor patio next to a waterfall.

The Wedding Connectors and guests toured the rainforest conservatory and the butterflies landed on our heads, shoulders, backs, purses . . . everyone was delighted and were busy taking photos! Kelly arranged for us to see a butterfly release in the conservatory, something that the venue offers to all brides. Butterfly releases are such a romantic and eco-friendly way to celebrate the new marriage.

In addition to weddings, the Butterfly Pavilion can host birthday parties, bridal showers, the rehearsal dinner, day after brunch . . . and wouldn’t it be a lovely setting for engagement photos?

Tricia, Nancy, Mark, April & Sarah enjoying the evening!

We spent most of the evening in the ballroom (2,000 sq. ft, accommodating up to 250 people). It has a built in wooden dance floor and offers a direct access to a warming kitchen.

A Wild Thyme Catering took advantage of the kitchen as they provided us with delicious, flavorsome appetizers. They included a variety of vegetables, shrimp wrapped in bacon, and a delectable sauce with salmon on pita chips. Many thanks to Kimberly, the owner of A Wild Thyme Catering, and to Sarah and Ashley. Delicious desserts by Sweet Nothings

Nancy Bramlett, owner of Sweet Nothings  provided us with scrumptious sweets including peanut butter mousse cups, little black Russian cakes, strawberry tequila cake bites, butterfly sugar cookies, and cherry/blueberry or peach tarts.  They all looked so good, it was a difficult choice! D’Vine Denver, “Home of Wild Women Wine”, (1660 Champa St, 303-534-0788, offered a wonderful selection of wines.  D’Vine Denver is a boutique winery owned by Charlene Meriwether.   She offers wine clubs, wine tasting parties, a “make your own wine” and custom designed wine labels (isn’t that a great idea for weddings?)

BBJ Linen ( also had a table displaying various table linen choices, runners, chair covers, napkins and more, and provided the table linens for our event.  Contact for more info.

DJ Eric Hovey of Progressive DJ (303-253-2747, kept all of us entertained while others were taking tours.  When you see the photos, that explains why three people are sitting on top of someone else.  Lots of smiles in those pictures!

Beautiful butterflies!

Many thanks to Linda Peterie Murri for taking 60+ photos as a remembrance of our very fun evening. In addition to wedding and engagement photos, Linda specializes in senior portraits and family and baby portraits.  (303-882-4412,
